Twenty SMAN 8 Jakarta students passed the Indonesian Talent Development Program Selection

On Tuesday, September 9, 2025, the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas) of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) announced the students and accompanying teachers who passed the selection for the Bina Talenta Indonesia (Indonesian Talent Development) program. Indonesian Talent Development is a strategic program organized by Puspresnas and aims to develop student and teacher talent in various fields, especially those related to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), coding, and artificial intelligence, in a contextual and applied manner. This program is implemented holistically thru enrichment in relevant fields related to global development and character building in order to prepare outstanding talent toward Indonesia's Golden Vision 2045.

Criteria for students who can register and participate in the selection process for the Indonesian Talent Development Program include being active students with a minimum ranking of participant in district/city-level events at the Puspresnas and the Indonesian Talent Development Agency (BPTI) of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, and/or competition events that have passed Puspresnas curation and are taking place in 2024 and 2025. Twenty pupils from State Senior High School 8 (SMANDEL) in Jakarta made it through the selection process, including Ajeng Salma Layla Amira from class 10.

The training materials for the Indonesian Talent Development Program are provided by Puspresnas and delivered by speakers from partner universities. Participants who pass the selection can choose between two training areas: STEM and Character Training, which introduces science, technology, engineering, and mathematics concepts thru an interdisciplinary approach to address real-world challenges around the participants, and Coding, Artificial Intelligence, and Character Training, which focuses on basic programming and application development for simple digital projects, as well as exploring basic artificial intelligence concepts and their application in daily life. Both trainings will also be supplemented with character value reinforcement, emphasizing the 8 (eight) dimensions of the graduate profile, namely: faith and piety toward the Almighty God; citizenship; critical reasoning; creativity; collaboration; independence; health and communication.

The Indonesian Talent Development Program is expected to be a strategic response to the nation's need to prepare superior human resources (HR) amidst rapid global changes. This initiative didn't just appear out of nowhere; it's rooted in several significant challenges and opportunities that demand innovation, speed, and competitive excellence. The existence of the Indonesian Talent Development Program is expected to create a competency-based and work-based training ecosystem that is relevant to the demands of future industries.
