Koandarkum A New Initiative for Teaching Integrity and Rules to Young Students

February, 17 2026 – A progressive step in character education for Indonesian children officially begins today. Koandarkum (Komunitas Anak Sadar Hukum), a non-profit organization focused on early legal education, was declared founded in Jakarta by Ajeng Salma Layla Amira, a 10th-grade student at SMA Negeri 8 Jakarta.

The idea of Koandarkum was driven by concern over the lack of legal literacy targeting early childhood, especially elementary school students. In fact, understanding rules, rights, and obligations is the main foundation in shaping future citizens with integrity.

Chairwoman and Founder of Koandarkum, Ajeng Salma Layla Amira, emphasized that this community aims to break the stigma that law is a rigid and frightening subject for children.

"The law is often only introduced when someone has already broken it". Thru Koandarkum, we want to reverse that paradigm. We bring the values of legal awareness thru interactive discussions and cheerful socialization, in accordance with the developmental psychology of elementary school children," said Ajeng at the inauguration event in Jakarta (17/02).

As a non-profit organization, Koandarkum promotes creative educational methods that align with the psychological and mental conditions and needs of children. The main focus of its activities includes:

Interactive Discussions. Inviting children to engage in dialog about ethics, honesty, and a sense of responsibility thru the creation of an inclusive two-way dialog space to stimulate children's critical thinking. This discussion is designed to build empathy and moral integrity, so that children can independently distinguish their rights and obligations. Anti-Bullying and Online Grooming Socialization. Providing an understanding that every child has legal protection and an obligation to respect others. In addition, specifically educating children about the dangers of online grooming, the attempts of strangers on the internet to manipulate children, so that they know how to protect themselves and are brave enough to report if they encounter suspicious situations in the online world. Introduction of Simple Rules. Instilling obedience from an early age includes traffic discipline, responsibility for environmental preservation, and etiquette in public communication. By understanding the philosophy behind a rule, such as why we must queue or dispose of waste properly, children are expected to develop self-awareness of the law, not out of fear of sanctions, so that this compliance becomes a character trait ingrained in them until they grow up.

Koandarkum operates independently and opens the door to collaboration for all parties concerned with the formation of national character. With its initial base in Jakarta, Koandarkum has a long-term vision to reach schools in the remote corners of the archipelago.

"We believe that children who are aware of the law from an early age will grow into adults who respect the rights of others and uphold justice. This is our best investment for a more orderly Indonesia in the future," Ajeng concluded.
